I believe that it is my obligation to speak to issues of sociopolitical, ethical and spiritual concerns that we all face.
I grew up in the Jim Crow South in the 50's and 60's. And those experiences have a conscious and unconscious impact on the tenor of the art that I create.
Now, whether through my Visual or my Literary Artworks, I endeavor to create dynamic abstract stories in an effort to compel people to converse, and to think about the condition that our condition is in. My artwork is alive! And as any living organism must, it is constantly evolving, growing, building up as well as tearing down, with the intent to be heard, seen, and understood.
So, after careful observation of my works, I'm sure that it will become clear that the contemporary urges for stylistic obedience, social correctness, and peer-driven conformity have not guided this artist, but rather, the overwhelming desire to say as many things as possible in as many ways as the different mediums will allow.
