Her extensive creative practice centers on use of detailed drawing combined with handmade and found objects fabricating evocative assemblages which recall her formative years in rural Tennessee interwoven with the fullness of contemporary life. The Intricate fusions of common items enhanced by aged surfacing and underlying message, for her, offer the most possibilities for cherished communication of the difficult expressions of the heart.
McCune holds a BFA, MFA and has received numerous awards for her artwork and her teaching. Her exhibition record is substantial, featuring solo, invitational, and group exhibitions in museums and galleries across the United States and overseas. Her works are in the collections of the South Carolina Arts Commission; the Asheville Art Museum; the American University of Paris; and the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
