"Truth Depot" is a free standing assembly of historical materials salvaged and reclaimed from the original MLK, Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, DC, prior to it's recent renovation. These discarded objects have been carefully curated and reassembled to express the historical significance of the original Mies van der Rohe building, the passage of time, cultural relevance of our current political climate, and America's importance as the intellectual Capitol of the Free World. As great leaders in separate intellectual fields, both Mies van der Rohe and Martin Luther King, Jr. escaped oppression and spoke out against authoritarianism and fascism. While their mediums for communication were unrelated, their mission was the same: Mies van der Rohe and MLK, Jr. were both in search of the absolute truth. Removed from their original context and reassembled, these materials represent a future of hope and transparency in this current time of unprecedented uncertainty.
