Artist Statement
Life is filled with many ebbs and flows. Every person lives a completely separate and unique life. No two people have ever experienced the same exact sequence of events in all of human history. Each day we are faced with new experiences, hardships, and challenges that seek to define what it means to be who we are. These individual layers of our lives can reveal a lot about us. Our insecurities, our confidences, our likes and dislikes, and all can be revealed or contained depending on our own actions. Some layers of our lives are smooth, others rocky, some dark and some bright. ItÕs how we choose to respond to the layers weÕre are faced with in life that defines who we are. Will we let any imperfect layer destroy our life and crumple our livelihood? Or will we let all of our layers work together to form a sturdy and solid person that can withstand anything we are confronted with? When we peel back and let our layers show us at our most vulnerable is when we can be at one with ourselves. ItÕs how we let ourselves be seen, imperfect and varied, that creates the aura on which we are perceived.
