Jay Owens (born 1978) grew up in upstate South Carolina. He attended the SC Governor's School for the Arts. Jay attended Winthrop University and graduated with a BFA in ceramics from Utah State University. Jay has studied at Peters Valley School of Craft, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and Penland School of Crafts. He has been an artist-in-residence at the Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts (ME). Jay has exhibited his work at Lill Street Ceramic Center (IL), Baltimore Clay Works (MD), 701 Contemporary Art Center (SC), If Art Gallery (SC), US Embassy in Bern Switzerland, Lincoln Arts and Culture Center (CA) and the Greenville County Museum of Art (SC). He lives in Travelers Rest, SC.
