Abi Brewer

Abi Brewer is a painter based in Tuscaloosa, AL. A former professional ballet dancer with the Alabama Ballet, she draws inspiration from movement, storytelling, and her Chinese-American heritage. Her work reflects on the experiences that shaped her--fairytales, cultural traditions, and memories from her years in dance--through expressive, dreamlike depictions of nature, culture, and the human form. After receiving her first set of oil paints from her father, Abi discovered painting as a new form of storytelling that allowed her to layer emotion and memory with intention. Since founding Abi Brewer Fine Art in 2022, she has exhibited across Alabama, led community workshops, and developed projects to make art more accessible. At the heart of her practice is a desire to share beauty and honesty while encouraging others to reflect on their own stories and identities.
