The collage is made from relief print images transfered onto sheer fabrics and combined to create a hanging curtain. The effect created is similar to a dreamhome in which domestic space and humanoid form is confused but still familiar. The work is inspired by silent films and focuses on ideas of memory and loss. The dream-like collage reflects the rearrangement that loss and grief cause emotionally. The feeling this work is meant to evoke is seeing something familiar suddenly made unfamiliar-viewers move through the work as though walking through their home in the middle of the night-the usual fixtures are made strange by the veils of dark and sleep. From the visual language of black and white film, the work explores how stories of home are projected and reimagined. The reference to the silver screen through the use of a large fabric work and gradients of black/white arranged to be reminiscent of lighting changes or composed scenery touches on ideas of perception and personal narrative.
