Joseph Dreher

Joseph Dreher (aka JOEKINGATL) is currently a Lake City-based visual artist, architect, and social documentarian whose work explores identity, empathy, and memory through portraiture, drawing, and public art. Trained as an architect, he approaches artmaking as design for human connection--transforming encounters with people and places into collaborative acts of storytelling. Working across scales, from intimate works on paper to large-scale murals, Dreher's art honors the overlooked and amplifies the unseen. His practice merges beauty with social critique, using erasure, layering, and redrawing as metaphors for history and resilience. Recent works, including Erased American History (2025), confront the politics of representation and the fragility of truth in American memory, reaffirming art's role as both witness and resistance. Dreher has a Master of Architecture degree from Savannah College of Art & Design and is a Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts fellow.
