A jar is a known form, and there are expectations of it. It should be centered, stout, and graceful. It should contain and be useful. This jar is reaching for something, or maybe trying to hold a pose? It is attempting to appear as something it doesn't quite feel it can own. The chaos of all the moments that lead it here-of all its component parts-don't feel like they'll hold. Yet the form stays together and the chaos of its underpinnings does not diminish its grace. In fact the poise and movement it conveys is because of all of these parts and the result is honest. Possibly too honest. Maybe the fact that it doesn't hold water-and thus cannot perform its use-is more of a reaction to the distance it feels from its original purpose.
